Those of us who've been regularly watching Louie up until this point are aware of most of C.K.'s characteristics. He's hilarious and witty, but we're not surprised to find out that he rarely gets a date, or that his daughters don't necessarily look up to him, but rather view him as a funnyman they get to hang out with every once in a while. Furthermore, he's self-loathing, yet others would merely call him self-aware. Regardless of one's impression of Louie, the comedian possesses an undeniable gift for poking fun at his own limitations. In So Did the Fat Lady, C.K. explores these deep-seeded insecurities, which are brought to light by an overweight --albeit charming--waitress who asks him out at his regular comedy club.
It seems like a lifetime ago that Louis C.K. was a mere stand-up comedian hoping for his big break. Not even those who noticed the sheer quality of his material would have ever guessed that, many years later, that same man would be responsible for the slick work of pure genius that is Louie.
Remember Me, a fantastic sci-fi title, has recently been announced by Sony for their Instant Game Collection on PS Plus, according to a post on the PlayStation blog (via Polygon). The game, which is set in 2084 and takes place in Paris, focuses on Nilin, who is stripped of her memories and must unravel a conspiracy in order to get them back. It polarized critics upon release, as many lauded the story but ultimately condemned several technical aspects. I, however, greatly enjoyed it.
Excited about The Amazing Spider-Man 2, are we? Naturally. Not only did Marc Webb helm a fantastic first entry in the (soon-to-be) franchise, but recent images and action-packed trailers have certainly enticed fans such as myself. Today, Sony has dropped two featurettes that not only expand upon the film's production, but also shed some light into several plot points and reveal a very special cameo. Needless to say, the following videos are riddled with minor spoilers.
Screenwriter-director Joe Cornish's CV is outstanding. Not only did he co-write The Adventures of Tintin and the upcoming Ant-Man with none other than Edgar Wright, but he also penned and directed the critically acclaimed British sci-fi flick Attack the Block. In other words, it'd be pretty darn cool if he directed Star Trek 3. Can you picture it?
Breaking Bad might be done, but Vincent Gilligan seems keen on keeping the story going. The upcoming series Better Call Saul -- which is slated to feature Bob Odenkirk reprising his role as everyone's (least) favorite criminal lawyer Saul Goodman -- was confirmed by the show's creator to be a prequel of sorts, and would feature cameos from Jesse Pinkman (Aaron Paul) and Walter White (Bryan Cranston). Nevertheless, it seems the spin-off might also act as a sequel to the award-winning series, as Odenkirk recently confirmed that Gilligan and Peter Gould recently discussed the possibility of continuing Saul's story.
It seems the director of Thor: The Dark World isn't going back to TV after all. Even though he was hired to helm the Marvel Cinematic Universe feature based on his work on HBO's Game of Thrones, Alan Taylor may want to stay in the film industry for now. He was recently rumored to direct Terminator 5 (which should come out in 2015), and while that absolutely remains a rumor for now, he's not shy about sharing his thoughts on the matter.
How many times has Guillermo del Toro expressed interest in a particular project, and subsequently denied any sort of involvement? We don't necessarily blame the exceptionally talented director - we know he's crazy busy writing a book and getting ready to work on Crimson Peak - but I'd certainly want to see him helm at least one feature a year, à la Woody Allen. Unfortunately, that's not the way the Mexican filmmaker goes about things.
Robert Rodriguez seems to have enjoyed working with Lady Gaga on Machete Kills, which would explain why he recently cast her in a reportedly small role in Sin City: A Dame to Kill For. Shocked? Neither are we. After all, it makes sense for the upcoming film to feature one of the most theatrical, over-the-top performers in the world in a cameo.
A while ago it was reported that Jeff Wadlow would be writing and possibly directing an adaptation of X-Force, a team of mutants that works simultaneously with the X-Men. Fans aren't particularly thrilled about the idea, but the Kick-Ass 2 director certainly seems excited about working on the project.
